Happy Week-- March 2-March 6, 2015

Hello Everyone! This week is the culmination of several months of hard work. Our school evaluation will be this Thursday. We solicit your prayers that all will go well. Thank you for my students and parent who came out to support the work days in preparation of the upcoming visit. A closer victory for Mt. Calvary Junior Academy occurred this weekend. Our school champion, Rigaud Chostel, placed 2nd in this year's Conference-Wide Spelling Bee hosted by Ephesus Academy in West Palm Beach, FL. Congratulations to him and next year we strive to do even better!

Hopefully students are preparing for the school wide Science Fair coming up this month on Wednesday, March 18, 2015. There are only two weeks left to prepare and some experiments need time to work properly. Here is a video on projects if you need a little motivation to keep you going:

Happy New Week Everyone!  There are new Spelling words for the week. Spelling Word work will be due on Friday as usual. We are starting a new theme for all grades this week.

Remember that Science fair projects are due in the next couple of weeks (March 18th) and students should have already chosen a project topic. These projects count as significant grades for the upcoming quarter, so great care should be taken in preparing and presenting the topics.

REMINDER: NO school tomorrow on Tuesday, February 24, 2015. Teachers will be attending a staff development day out of town. School resumes Wednesday, February 25, 2015.

Happy New Week Parents! I trust you had a restful week. I have quite a bit of information to share with you for this week's work and homework.

This week we are studying the life cycle of a frog and I would like for you to have your students review their notes on the metamorphosis or change of a from egg to tadpole to adult please have your students watch the following videos:

Student will be creating a mini lesson on the life cycle of a frog for my evaluation so please have students review and know the stages of a frog's life cycle and the correct names/events for each part.

Spelling words for this week consist of words that writers use. Remember that there is word work each day to practice using the words. Here is the list:

Happy New Week! Students are continuing to work on projects of ancient civilizations (the Maya, the Aztecs, the Anasazi and the mound builders of the Mississippi (see previous post for information).  Projects will be presented on Thursday and Friday this week.

Students will attend a field trip to the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, FL this Wednesday, January 28, 2015.  Students should wear full school uniform, and bring a sack lunch. Please do not bring electronic devices, backpacks or liquids as they will not be allowed in the museum. Students may bring additional monies to purchase items from the gift shop or Cafe Gala. Please be sure all permission slips are turned in with the money by Tuesday, January 27, 2015.

Happy New Week Everyone! As most of you probably already know, I am away this week attending the FETC Technology Conference in Orlando, FL. There are a few things you should keep in mind this week:

There is a project due on next Thursday, January 29, 2015. Students must create an oral presentation about one of the following ancient peoples of the early Americas: the Aztecs, the Mayans, the Anasazi, the Incas, or the Mound builder peoples of the Mississippi and Ohio River basins. Students may create a PowerPoint, Diorama, a live "character" presentation, or a model representing an object or scene from one of those groups. NO posters or drawings please. Students will present projects next Thursday and Friday.

A notice went home about the Dali Museum field trip on Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Please return all monies and permission slips by Friday, January 23, 2015.
